Roam Like Home lets you use your mobile abroad in 47 destinations without extra roaming charges. When you’re in a Roam Like Home zone, you can use your plan allowance for data, calls and texts to the UK and other included destinations. You can also receive calls and texts free in these zones:

Before using Roam Like Home, make sure roaming is enabled on your account and phone. To check your roaming is switched on, go to your settings on My Mobile.
- Calls and texts (SMS) back to UK landlines and mobiles from Roam Like Home countries.
- Calls and texts (SMS) to landlines and mobiles in the same Roam Like Home country as you're roaming in.
- Calls and texts (SMS) to landlines and mobiles from any Roam Like Home country to another Roam Like Home country, excluding anything made from the UK.
- Data usage.
- Once your allowance is used up, we will charge any further Roam Like Home events at UK at out-of-plan rates until the allowance renews.
- Calls and texts received while roaming are free.
- Calls to 150, 151 and 154 are free.
- Calls to numbers starting 0800, 0808, 0500 are free.
- Calls to 1571 are free.
Fair Use Policy
If your plan includes 20GB or more, we may apply a surcharge if you use more than 15GB while roaming in one billing period.
What's not included
You’ll be charged standard rates for:
- calls and texts from the UK to any overseas country
- calls and texts from Roam Like Home destinations to countries outside the Roam Like Home zones
- UK service numbers (084, 087, 09, 118)
- calls to UK personal numbers (070)
- picture messages (MMS)
- broadband Backup free data
Important:
If you roam in Northern Cyprus, your phone may connect to a Turkish network. Turkey isn’t a Roam Like Home country, so roaming charges will apply.

The My BT app is an easy way to keep track of what you're using and see how much data, minutes and texts you've got left in your plan. The usage bars on the app will show Roam Like Home usage.
You can also view your recent usage through My BT online. You'll see any roaming charges in the Roaming section of your bill.
If you exceed your allowance, you’ll be charged UK out‑of‑plan rates. We’ll notify you when you reach 80% of your allowance and again when you reach 100%.
To avoid extra charges, you can:
- upgrade your mobile plan
- buy a BT Mobile UK add‑on
You’ll only need an add‑on if you’re close to using up your UK plan allowance.

If you're in a Roam Like Home country and connected to that country’s land network, Roam Like Home applies.
At sea, your phone may connect to a maritime satellite network. These are not included in Roam Like Home and are charged at Zone 9 rates.
Some cruise ships run their own mobile networks that connect to an overseas network (for example, a US network). Any usage will appear on your bill as roaming in that country and charged at that country’s rates.
