How to report abuse and phishing
When you report abuse or phishing, you're helping us to protect other users.
We want all our customers to have a positive experience online, but unfortunately, people sometimes misuse our network. This could be anything from sending viruses to posting illegal material.
If you'd like to know more, our Acceptable Use Policy explains what users can and can't do.
What BT can investigate
- IP abuse originating from our network
- Abuse of our BT email service
- Digital account takeover
- Phishing
- Scam calls
- Malware
- Vulnerability scanning
- Distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS) against your BT products
- Illegal material (including copyright infringement)
- Inappropriate content, chat or behaviour with or towards a child online.
What BT can't investigate
Unfortunately, we can't stop abuse that doesn't come from our network. Please report the abuse directly to the offender's Internet Service Provider (ISP). You can find out who the Internet Service Provider (ISP) is by looking up any IP address in the RIPE Database at www.db.ripe.net/whois.
Reporting abuse and phishing to BT
- Report your issue to abuse@bt.com. We investigate and act quickly on any abuse reported to us. Whilst we may not be able to respond individually, we do act upon every email received.

Reporting abuse and phishing externally
