Here's where to find help with Broadband Backup, the BT Halo benefit that gets you back online quickly if your broadband stops working. Have a look at our suggestions below.
Try a few different locations around your house to find the best signal. Often the signal gets better near windows or doors. You'll see on your mobile screen whether you're connected to 4G and how strong the signal is. Don't worry if you don't have a full signal, as you should still get a good connection.
Some older mobiles don't work with the faster 4G speeds. If you have a 3G phone, you might see significantly lower data speeds.
If you have a 4G mobile but find it's connecting to 3G, don't worry. Broadband Backup will still work. Or you could try moving your mobile to another spot in your house until you see the 4G indicator.
You can use your personal hotspot to connect any device at home, but this does depend on the strength of your 4G signal throughout your house. For example, if you use Alexa, Hive, Sonos or printers and they won't connect, you can move your mobile to the area with the strongest signal. Or, if possible, try putting the devices you want to connect in the same room as your mobile.
We recommend that you remove the case, if you use one, to keep the device cool. If it seems to be getting too hot, switch off your personal hotspot and disconnect from the power to let it cool down.
You may need to charge your phone more often when using it as a hotspot.
