BT Smart Controls app: End of service information

Why is the BT Smart Controls App that controls the remote access of the camera stopping?

We've decided to stop the BT Smart Controls app from 15th September 2025. This app is used for accessing Smart Baby Monitor 5 inch or 2.8 inch and BT Smart Home Cam service. We understand this may be disappointing news. This decision reflects our focus on delivering what we do best - reliable, high-quality broadband and connectivity services across the UK

BT Smart Controls is an app that allows you to monitor your home, pets, and family from anywhere on your mobile. The app is available for iOS from the Apple App Store, and for Android devices from the Google Play Store.

Key dates

You'll no longer be able to use Smart Home Cam services from 15 September 2025. You can still use Smart Baby Monitor with the parent unit in your home. However, you'll no longer be able to use the app from 15 September 2025.

Will my Smart Baby Monitor still work at Home?

Yes, you can continue to use your Smart Baby Monitor in home after this time, but the mobile stream via the app will no longer work.

Will my Smart Home Cam still work?

No, Smart Home Cam will not function without the app.

What'll happen to my user account? Do I need to do anything?

You don't need to do anything. We'll be clearing all of your account data from our systems. The Apple and Android versions of app will cease to exist from 15 September 2025.

Can I back up my data?

The application stores images and videos captured by the application, these are accessible through the Gallery section within the app.

Once the service is no longer available, you may not be able to access your content captured through the application.

To ensure you retain any media you’d like to keep you can use the "Share" option available in the Photo and Video sections of the Gallery to back up your files.

The Smart Home Camera have an SD card slot, so if you have purchased an SD card your data will still be stored locally on the SD card slot and will not be impacted by the closure of the app service.

Why am I seeing a 'Service Error' message when creating a new account?

As the service will come to end after 15 September 2025 you may see this message if you're attempting to create a brand-new user account after this date.
